Club Session (8th November) and Recovery Boots

Club session on Tuesday 8 November – 12 x 400m or hill session in Donard Forest. Please remember to bring a head torch if you are joining Eamon McCrickard’s merry men in the wood! For those on the 400s please remember that hi-viz clothing is mandatory.

We have hired a set of recovery boots for a trial period with a view to purchasing. To help us decide if this is viable and worthwhile we would invite club members to try them before a decision is made. We are charging a nominal fee of £10 for a 30-45 minute session to cover the hire costs. Please contact Joe McCann or Paul Byrne to arrange a session.

Monday 20th June

The Monday run on 20 June will leave from Donard Park in Newcastle at 6:15pm. The run will be in two parts – firstly a trot around Donard Forest (3 miles). Transition will be 1 mile down the Shimna Road to Bryansford GAC for the second part of the run – a 5k around the town following the course of the Ford 5 which takes place on 9 July. No doubt lots of Bryansford members will join us as they prepare for their big event.

Comber Parkrun – 16th July

We are having a club Parkrun outing to Comber on Saturday 16 July 2016. Parkruns are free and you simply need to register online at parkrun.org.uk and print off your barcode. You must present a barcode or you will not get a time. Parkruns are free timed 5k events which start at 21 different locations throughout NI every Saturday morning at 9:30am. They are timed runs as opposed to races, so it is you against yourself and the clock. Yesterday 40+ Orangegrove AC runners turned up at Falls Park and it looked spectacular. This is also an event where our junior members could come along and participate with senior members. As a general rule those of us who are regular Parkrun participants do not wear our club vests, but on this occasion I would ask everyone going to run in club colours. We will also take a club photograph at the beginning of the run. So, plan ahead and make this event part of your summer training plan. Any questions please email me – mccann_joe@hotmail.com

Club 5k Handicap – Tuesday 12th April 2015

Despite the imminence of the opening Hill and Dale race of the season, 29 athletes turned out for the initial session of the NAC Spring and Summer Programme. Our thanks to Pascal toner for setting an unusually benevolent course, starting and finishing the run and processing the results. He promises that future Castlewellan Tuesday’s will be more of a challenge. Tuesday 19th will be in Tollymore and features the much loved and eagerly anticipated 2s and 3s! See you all there. Everyone welcome. Continue reading
