Butcher Kelly – Club Handicap Winner 2023

The Annual Club 5-mile Handicap is the stuff of legends. In the days of yore, people were known to have eaten a hefty turkey and ham lunch, washed down with half a dozen pints of stout and romp to victory. There is also the tendency to arrive and proffer all sorts of excuses about how badly you are running, how out of shape you are and the struggle it will be to even complete 5 miles, let alone run them at any kind of tempo. Club Handicap – Tuesday 21 December 2021

The annual Christmas 5-mile club handicap took place on Tuesday 21 December.

Thanks to Jerome, Francie, Gillian, Ernie, Danny and Connaire for officiating and marshalling along the way. Getting it 100% right is an impossible task and we recognise that a few were sent out too early and a few were sent out too late. Nevertheless, it was good fun and an opportunity to run as hard or as easy as your fitness levels and other training priorities allowed for.

Comber Parkrun – 16th July

We are having a club Parkrun outing to Comber on Saturday 16 July 2016. Parkruns are free and you simply need to register online at parkrun.org.uk and print off your barcode. You must present a barcode or you will not get a time. Parkruns are free timed 5k events which start at 21 different locations throughout NI every Saturday morning at 9:30am. They are timed runs as opposed to races, so it is you against yourself and the clock. Yesterday 40+ Orangegrove AC runners turned up at Falls Park and it looked spectacular. This is also an event where our junior members could come along and participate with senior members. As a general rule those of us who are regular Parkrun participants do not wear our club vests, but on this occasion I would ask everyone going to run in club colours. We will also take a club photograph at the beginning of the run. So, plan ahead and make this event part of your summer training plan. Any questions please email me – mccann_joe@hotmail.com
