Congratulations to all who took part in an excellent event tonight.  A special word of thanks to Audey McVeigh, Frank Morgan and Paddy McCartan for marshalling and recording the results and to Marty McMullan for kindly allowing us ruffians and hoodlums to use his well appointed and spacious premises for the post race tay.  All of your efforts are appreciated by all who took part.

Well Done to David O’Flaherty who was the fastest man on two legs and Brian Steele the fastest man on two wheels.  Well done also to Dearbhla and Patrick on fine runs which are good omens for the forthcoming international duty.  There was also a great ride by young Ben Wilson who showed fabulous pedal power; it wont be long before he is leaving his da trailing!!!  Full results below: Continue reading →

There will be a club event (the third in recent times) on Tuesday 18th September in Castlewellan Forest Park, starting at 6:30pm sharp.

The first leg will be a time lap of the lake (anti-clockwise) with a mass start at 6:30pm sharp.  Times will be used to determine the teams for the forthcoming NI Road relay Championships at Victoria Park.

The second leg will be a two lap bike time trial around the first half of the lake (anti-clockwise) and the Crow Road beginning at 7pm sharp.  Club members, friends and guests are welcom to participate in one of both parts of the challenge.

Bikes can be stored at Martin McMullan’s premises in the Courtyard and there will be a cup of tea afterwards for all taking part.  If yor are taking part please let me know by text or email to make sure that there is enough tay!  Please bring £1 towards the cost of the tay.  Hope to see you all there for an evening of fun filled competition.

Thanks to all who took part and to Frank Morgan, Mary Knight, Declan McElroy and Eugene McCann for officiating and making/serving the tay and refreshments.  Watch this space for the next event.

Following the great success of our last bike/run event, the next event will be on Tuesday 28th August at 6:30pm in Tollymore.  This time athletes will complete a 2 laps of the ‘Red Route’ course (Reggie’s Path optional for those desiring a longer course!!!) – one running and one on the bike (those recovering from injury or unable to complete the 8 mile run will be permitted to complete 2 laps on the bike).  Athletes will be in teams of 4 and each team can have one member completing 2 laps on the bike depending on the numbers.  As usual Tay will be served.  Competitors are asked to contribute £1 towards the cost of this.

Please let me know by text or email if you are competing and bring a friend if you can find one!
