Saphara Run – Provisional Results

The McCann Family would like to thank everyone who ran yesterday for their great generosity in raising over £1100 for Saphara. It was a great event which was made possible by an legion of volunteers from within and beyond the local. Thanks also to those who were unable to run but made a donation.  All names were placed in a draw and the winner was drawn at random by Paul Madden at the Christmas dinner.  Hazel Cruddington of Murlough AC was the lucky winner of a voucher for Sunday lunch generously donated by Jack O’Hare. Easter Monday Run

I am running in Tollymore Forest at 6:30pm tomorrow (Monday 21st April).  Anyone interested in joining me is most welcome.  The run will be on forest paths and I can point less experienced Hill and Dale runners in the general direction of the course for Thursday’s H&D race.

Club Session – 8th April 2014

The club session this week sees a return to the forest for some hill work in final preparation for the Hill & Dale series which begins on Thursday 17th April.  This week the session will be led by P, the athlete formerly known as PJ.  Meeting as usual at the Newcastle Centre at 6:30pm.  The session goes to the summmit of Drinahilly twice and covers approximately 6 miles in total.  See you all there.  Stevie Rice is using this as the springboard to get back those 10 seconds that Cairnsey beat him by on Saturday!!!

Club Session on Tuesday 1st April

This week’s session is 2 and 3 minute efforts (5 sets).  Meeting Newcastle Centre at 6:30pm.  Efforts start at the far end of King street at 6:50pm.  See you all there.

The session will be followed by a workshop entitled ‘Navigation in the mountains – a fool’s guide to not getting lost’  It will, somewhat appositely, be devliverd by A Fool (AKA 9 times Donard Champion Deon McNeilly – a man who knows Donard like the back of his hand. Pity he was wearing gloves on Saturday).  The venue for this ‘must attend event’ is somewhere between the top of Donard and somwhere near to the beginning of the top of the bottom of some other mountain which could be Millstone or maybe Thomas’ or maybe even Rocky!!!
