Weekend Roundup from Newcastle AC:
Well done to Francis Tumelty and Tanya Cumming who competed in the trials for the Northern Ireland Masters XC team earlier today.
Tanya was 7th overall and 2nd in her age category making the F40 team for the British and Irish Masters XC in Glasgow next month.
Francis was 38th overall and is now reserve for the M50 team.
The Armagh 10 Mile road race took place on Sunday past and had 3 Newcastle members competing.
Anyone who is willing to listen to him will know that Joe McCann has a famous story about this race and is often heard asking newer members to the club ‘Have you heard of the Armagh 10?’ and it can be guaranteed that if they didn’t know about it beforehand, they will definitely leave the run better educated about it.
Well done to the members who completed the race in what is a hard course running through the Orchard County countryside:
8th Lindsay Gordon 57.13
24th Miley Morgan 1.01.08
34th Michael McGreevy 1.05.18
Chicago Marathon
Across the Atlantic Newcastle AC’s flying Milk Man Niall King managed to recover sufficiently from a recent bout of flu to post an excellent time of 3.38 in the Chicago Marathon.
Dundrum GR8
12 members took part in the Dundrum GR8 organised by Murlough AC in the 8.4 and 3.5 mile multi-terrain race that started and finished on Dundrum Main Street. Well done all!
