The cross country league is back with the first round at the TJ McElmeel race in Armagh. The Newcastle AC Ladies team won the league in 2021 and the plan this year was to start the season strong.
The xc league is made up of nine races across the 2023-24 winter season. The best result from six races are counted for the final score. Clubs score points based on the finishing position of their first four runners and an additional point for every runner up to 10.
Conditions in Armagh were challenging with rain all Sunday afternoon. This made conditions underfoot challenging however this didn’t put off the team with nine women making the journey to Armagh. The team finished strong with the following times over the 5km course:
