Yasin Brannigan, fresh off his 5k PB at Queens a few weeks ago, packed his kit and his trainers to go on holiday and went out to prove that it doesn’t matter where you are, solid training will stand by you anywhere in the world.
Bristol Track Club 5K took place on Good Friday at Odd Down Cycle Circuit, Bath.
With a 3k and 5k option on the evening, Yasin opted for the 5k which consisted of 3 full loops and a little bit more of the circuit.
Toeing the line in Wave 1 as an Under 17 could have been a daunting prospect. However it didn’t deter him from picking off those in front and settling into the race fairly quickly. He held strong and even in an unfamiliar place he withstood the pressure and crossed the line in 17.58, seconds outside of his recent PB.
Delighted with his performance on the night was topped off by bumping into another local familiar face, Ciara Mageean who had taken part in the Elite race afterwards, smashing the course record and beating 2nd place by 26 seconds for a 5k time of 15.24.
