Pocket Rocket Harry Claims Another Parkrun Record

Another Parkrun record has tumbled under the fast feet of young Harry McVeigh. Last Saturday. On a wet and muggy Saturday morning, the youngster used a morning off from football training to attend his local parkrun in Castlewellan.
Junior Athlete Development Day a Huge Success

In collaboration with Athletics NI, the Newcastle Junior Squad boarded a bus to the home of Athletics in Northern Ireland and headed for Mary Peters Track for a day of multi-event development. The bespoke training day was open to all junior club members and 46 of the squad opted to attend the day all ranging from the ages of 8 years old to 18. The day was developed inline with the successful StarTrack Model that Athletics NI runs at various locations and times throughout the year. The timetable for the day was developed specifically to meet the needs of the members of the junior squad and the coaching team.
Maisie makes it 2 in a row at Ardglass

It was very much de ja vu at Ardglass on Wednesday evening as Maisie McVeigh toed the line of the Ardglass Festival 5k for the 2nd consecutive year. It has been a jammed packed season for the eldest of the McVeigh’s, as each discipline has run consecutively straight into the next without much of a break. The welcomed break at the start of July allowed the youngster to reset, relax and embrace a much needed retreat from the spotlight before jumping back in two feet first. Continue reading
Ulster title for Fiachna in Pentathlon

The weather may have been a bit erratic on Sunday past at Mary Peters Track but that wasn’t reflected in the consistent high performance levels of young Fiachna McAleenan as he threw on his spikes and took to the track and field for the NI & Ulster Combined Event Championships U13 Pentathlon.
