“Blue Moon Walk” – Thanks for the support

bm3The walk to the summit of Slieve Donard at midnight on Friday 31st July to see the “Blue Moon” did not disappoint!

After a very rainy afternoon it looked like the event would be a wash out, however at c9pm the clouds rolled back and gave way to a dry, warm still evening. It was so calm that some people managed with only a T-shirt.

bm2c60 people turned up for the event, which was supported by a mix of walkers & runners of differing ages and experience. Given the range of experience some people decided to set off at c9pm, however the main group left Donard Park at 10pm.

It was roughly around midnight by the time most people reached the top and experienced the “Blue Moon”, with the main body making it safely back to Newcastle by 1;30am.

bm1The organisers would like to thank all of those people who  turned up to support the event and we are delighted to advise that on the night a total of £640.00 was collected, with £200.00 donated by Bank of Ireland and a further £60.00 pledged by others. In total the “Mourne Mountain Rescue Team” will benefit to the tune of £900.00

Again, Many thanks
