Hill and Dale 2015 Thank You Night

Mourne Heritage Trust Mourne Mountain Rescue Team Cancer fund for children Mary Mackin
Newcastle AC closed out their 2015 Hill & Dale race series with a thank you night at the Toscano PIzzeria on Saturday 12th sept. It was great to see many of the Hill & Dale volunteers present for the great food and no doubt to share their various experiences on another successful race series. There would be no race series without the volunteers (members and friends of Newcastle AC) who give up their time in all weathers over an 11 race series to take entries, stand at check points in forests and mountain tops, ensure accurate timing and placing of runners. Big thanks to all of them.

A number of charities Mourne Mountain Rescue, Cancer Fund for Children, Mourne Heritage Trust and the Mandeville Unit – Craigavon Hospital were selected by both Newcastle AC and runners to receive all donations collected at the final Hill & Dale race and the Mill Hill Mile Race. It was great to see a total of £3500 handed over on the night to the selected charities. The final Hill & Dale race collected £2100 this sum split equally amongst Mourne Mountain Rescue, Mourne Heritage Trust and the Mandeville Unit. The recent Mill Hill Mile Race collected £700 and Newcastle AC added a further £700 so providing a £1400 sum for the Cancer Fund for Children. Representatives from all of the mentioned charities were present on the night to receive their cheques. Martin McMullan collected for Mourne Mountain Rescue, Martin Carey for Mourne Heritage Trust, Joan Burden for Cancer Fund For Children and Mary Mackin for Mandeville Unit.
