Down Schools XC Championship 2022

Newcastle AC Juniors were out in force representing their schools at the Down Schools XC Championship in Delamont, with some qualifying for the Ulster Championships in Mallusk!

 

Mini (Year 8)

In the Mini Girls Race, Erin Easton had a great run finishing in 7th place, with two more great results from Sarah Uhomoibhi in 33rd and Piera Corrigan in 68th position (out of 119).

Erin Easton and Sarah Uhomoibhi were also members of the Down High School Team that qualified for the Ulster Championships.

In the Boys race, Aaron O’Boyle finished in a fantastic 8th position and qualified for the Ulster Championship, with Jamie O’Flaherty also having a great run, coming 50th (out of 134).

 

Minor (Year 9)

Emily McMullan completed the course in 33rd place, with Clára McAvoy finishing in 47th place (out of 126), both very strong results in the Girls race.

 

Junior (Year 10)

In the Junior Girls race, Natalie Cotton had a great run taking 31st place (out of 99).
In the Boys race there was great performances from Euan McIntosh who came 51st, closely followed by Michael Uhomoibhi in 54th position (out of 113).

 

Inter (Years 11 and 12)

Aoibheann O’Gorman ran a strong race finishing 37th (out of 73) in the Inter Girls.

There were more strong performances in the Inter Boys race, with Ethan McMullan finishing 15th, Oliver Corrigan 31st and Yasin Brannigan in 58th (out of 89).

Ethan McMullan and Yasin Brannigan were also members of the Inter Boys team from Down High School who qualified for the Ulster Championships.

 

Senior (Years 13 and 14)

Ciara Savage had a fantastic run in the Senior Girls race, finishing 11th out of 31, where she qualified for the Ulster Championship.

Tom Crudgington had a podium finish, coming 1st in the Senior Boys Race, and also qualified for the Ulster Championship.
