Christmas 5 Mile Handicap Road Race – Tuesday 18 December

The Annual Club Christmas 5 Mile Handicap Road Race took place on Tuesday 18 December. 28 turned up on a calm and pleasant evening in conditions that were remarkably benign give the recent stormy weather.

The Galloping Landlord was first past the post, though there was a Steward’s Inquiry in light of the fact that he was lame for the last four weeks of training and barely able to put one foot in front of the other. After much deliberation, the result was upheld and O’Hare took the trophy home for a second time. The fastest time of the night was recorded by Daniel Molloy, a speedy 28.38

Our thanks to our Race Officials, Paul Rodgers, Jerome McCrickard and Michelle McCann who did a stoic job in ensuring that everyone including Charlie got a token and a finish time recorded. For the first time in a long time no-one got lost and no-one took a wrong turn in either Tullybrannigan of Marguerite.
