Parkrun update

With no cross country fixture this weekend many took the opportunity to take in a parkrun, with Ormeau being the most popular due to the forthcoming Seeley Cup over similar terrain. Melville was on top of the podium with a stunning 16:37, 57 seconds ahead of the second placed runner. McCann was 6th (18:33), Smyth 14th (19:13), Wonderwall 15th (19:16), The Prophet 16th (19:20), Carson 17th (19:17), Richard Rodgers 22nd (19:51), Cunningham 23rd (19:57), Horrox 29th (20:49) and The Prophetess 77th (11th lady overall in 24:16). Young DJ Kylski – the 7 inch version also had a great run – 48th in 22:31. Other NAC athletes went to different races.  Most notably XC Captain David McNeilly won the Comber event by a minute and 22 seconds, recording 17:52 and Pascal Toner took in the Knocknacarra event.  Teak tough Pascal finished 9th in 21:02 on a course deemed by many Parkrun stalwarts to be one of the more challenging in the British Isles. Parkruns are free and are a great way to get a good timed session on a Saturday morning and meet other like-minded athletes. In the words of O’Hare – ‘get yourself some Parkrun mate.’

Run 4 Rescue 10 mile run

Three of NAC’s finest took part in the Run 4 Rescue 10 mile event in Annalong. Phil Hodge finished 8th, followed by Dominic McInerney 9th and Mark King 16th. Hodge attributed his success to all advice and support given during the regular Tuesday night coaching sessions.
